FloorScore Certifications
Please see below to learn more about the certifications that Twelve Oaks® has earned for the indoor air quality standards of our flooring products.
FloorScore® is the most recognized indoor air quality (IAQ) certification standard for hard surface flooring materials, adhesives, and underlayments. Developed by SCS with the RFCI, a leading industry trade association of flooring manufacturers and suppliers, it qualifies for many green building schemes including LEED v4, WELL, BREEAM, and CHPS.
In 2010, California Air Resource Board (CARB) rolled out the most stringent regulation regarding formaldehyde emission for hardwood and related product. This regulation is known as CARB Phase II, which dictated that formaldehyde emission be lower than 0.05ppm —- a very safe level.
On December 12, 2016, EPA published in the Federal Register a final rule to reduce exposure to formaldehyde emissions from certain wood products produced domestically or imported into the United States. EPA worked with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to help ensure the final national rule was consistent with the California’s requirements for similar composite wood products.
